Kid's Club Before School Programs
The Kid's Club Before School Programs are housed at each elementary school. The programs open at 7:00 am. Enrollment is on a rolling basis throughout the year; drop in care IS available.
Before School is a quiet, relaxed time to enjoy:
- reviewing homework
- participating in planned curriculum activities
- reading books
- solving puzzles
- engaging in art activities such as drawing and coloring
- chatting with friends and teachers
- building with blocks or Legos
- playing board games
- playing in the gym
- playing outdoors in good weather
The children may bring breakfast if they wish. At some schools, breakfast is available for a fee. At approximately 8:20 am, children may join friends on the playground as they arrive for school.
The overall philosophy, both Before School and After School, is to help children become independent, self-reliant, resourceful, capable of reasoning and thinking, able to problem solve and make good choices. Kid's Club is a place to learn social skills, conflict resolution and problem solving; to be ready for the challenges that face them as they confront life's issues.
