In May, Mrs. Sydney Bialo was honored by the YWCA of Greater Lawrence at its 26th annual Tribute to Women awards luncheon.  The YWCA of Greater Lawrence has a long-standing history of improving the lives of women and children in the Merrimack Valley area.  Offering programs at little or no-cost, the YWCA of Greater Lawrence helps the under-served overcome challenges of poverty, violence, illiteracy, homelessness and inaccessibility to health services.

As one of twenty-nine (29) Honorees, Mrs. Bialo was selected because of her exemplary contributions to both her profession and community.  Mrs. Bialo is the Executive Director of SHED, Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing quality care and enrichment to children from pre-kindergarten through grade eight.  Initially hired twenty-five years ago by the Department of Community Services in Andover to run its enrichment/care program, Mrs. Bialo has been the driving force behind the success of the organization, which has grown from fifteen kindergarteners to encompass four year-round programs serving over three hundred families in Andover and the surrounding communities. Under her deft guidance, SHED, Inc. has become synonymous with excellence in enrichment and out-of-school time care. She has created an environment where children are able to flourish and learn and where parents can leave their children without worry, confident that they will be safe, nurtured and intellectually simulated and challenged.

This Fall, SHED, Inc. celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary of caring and enriching the lives of thousands of children. You are all invited to learn more about this marvelous organization and its programs by calling 978.623.8460, or by logging on to its website at www.shedinc.org.
